Our Vision
Our vision is to be recognised as New Zealand’s leading authority on forestry research through the relationships forged within the forestry sector, and through achieving professional management of research for these stakeholders. Membership spans forest owners, forest managers, consultants, service providers, educational organisations, local authorities, land owners, Maori authorities and Government agencies.
By delivering relevant, well focused, quality research, FFR will play a key role in assisting the economic and social development of New Zealand.
FFR will assist the New Zealand forestry sector to remain internationally competitive and a viable land use to ensure that the community benefits, not only from the direct commercial value of forests, but from the wider contribution trees make to the environment through biodiversity, carbon dioxide sequestration, water quality and recreational opportunities.
FFR will provide land owners and investors with the information and tools to make confident investment decisions for a range of species, and will assist in the promotion of forestry across a wider range of land types.
FFR will identify and develop mechanisms that provide value to forest owners for forest ecosystem values which will help ensure that forests continue to play a vital role in a sustainable New Zealand.
